HOOPS GAME RULES

 

  1. There will be a 5-minute warm-up period scheduled for each team.  Each team must start and finish with at least three (3) players.  Any team not present by end of warm-up will forfiet the game. BE ON TIME!
  2. Possession will be started with the flip of a coin.
  3. Game format will be 25-minute, continuous clock.  Each team will be permitted one (1) timeout of up to one (1) minute - clock will continue to run.  There will be no timeouts allowed in the final three (3) minutes of play.
  4. Each field goal is worth one (1) point.  A goal made from behind the designated line is worth two (2) points.  Foul shots will count as one (1) point.
  5. Winner Bracket Games - 15 points must win by 2, up to a maximum of 20 points.  Example: 15-13,18-16.
  6. Loser Bracket Games - 15 points straight out.
  7. The team leading at the end of 25 minutes will be declared the winner.
  8. If a game is tied at the end of regulation, the Official/Hoops Harasser will flip a coin to determine possession - first team to score wins game.
  9. No dunking is permitted - a penalty of two (2) points will be assessed along with loss of possession.
  10. No stalling is permitted - must attempt a shot within 30 seconds - official discretion.
  11. Substitutions are permitted for the team with possession of the ball - notify the official of sub time.
  12. Before start of play, and after baskets, all balls must be "checked" by the defense.
  13. Jump balls go to the defense.
  14. The ball must change possession by "taking it back" behind the designated line.  "Taking it back" means both feet and the ball must be behind the line.  Failure to do this results in loss of possession - official discretion.
  15. The Official/Hoops Harrasser will call all fouls.  OFFICIAL/HOOPS HARRASSER CALLS ARE FINAL.  Arguing with an Official/Hoops Harrasser may result in ejection from the game and/or tournament.
  16. The top, sides and bottom of the backboard are Inbounds.  The metal support of the goal is out-of-bounds.
  17. Intentional, flagrant and technical fouls will result in two (2) foul shots for the other team, plus possession after foul shots.  Official/Hoops Harrasser discretion to sit the player.
  18. All unsportsmanlike conduct, including foul language, will absolutely not be tolerated.  Players may be taken out of the game at the officials discretion.
  19. Anyone involved in punching, fighting or attempting to fight will be ejected from the tournament.
